Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics:
A Journal of Qualitative Research from the Johns Hopkins University Press
Valen was selected to write a personal story for the Narrative Symposium – Receiving the Gift of Life: Stories from Organ Transplant Recipients. These narratives help to foster better understanding of the experiences of life-saving organ transplant recipients and their families, including difficulties experienced post-transplant – sometimes requiring multiple transplants.
The Narrative Symposium shares a unique insight into the lives and experiences of 12 organ recipients and a mother of a recipient, as well as three incredible commentaries from experts in the field of transplantation. All of which was published not only in the NIB – A Journal of Qualitative Research, but also in an open-access edition titled: VOICES, Personal Stories from the Pages of NIB. They also created an organ recipient, and transplant professional teaching guide from the stories. All of this can be read and accessed at the link shared below.
